Day Zero: Crosstown Rebels’ end of the world festival in Playa del Carmen

As if The BPM Festival weren’t enough for Playa del Carmen in Mexico, Crosstown Rebels presents Day Zero – a two-day festival Dec. 20 and 21 celebrating the end of the world cycle as determined by the Mayan civilization.

We like the idea — if the world is ending, we better die being serenaded with beats by some of the greats in electronic music today. We were surprised to see that even Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, a mybeatFix favorite, will be in attendance.

“This is a phenomenal moment in time and there is no way we could let it pass without hosting an amazing and unforgettable celebration. It’s going to be a moment that our generation can latch onto that actually feels credible, poignant and special,” said Damian Lazarus, Crosstown Rebels head honcho.

Other artists on the lineup include (in alphabetical order) 3D (Massive Attack) vs. James Lavelle (UNKLE), Acid Pauli, Amirali (live), Art Department, Damian Lazarus, Francesca Lombardo, Fur Coat, Infinity Ink (live), Jamie Jones, Maayan Nidam, Matias Aguayo (live), Metrika, Subb-an, Thugfucker and Trentemøller.
