We’re all familiar with Benoit & Sergio‘s hit “Walk & Talk” from 2010, but they’re putting this track on the shelf for now to provide you with some new tunes. The boys are back at it again with the three-track EP, New Ships, released today on Visionquest.
The opening track, “Lipstick & Lace”, has a similar vibe to “Walk & Talk”, with a bouncy bassline, subtle vocals and a fun pop-song quality. “Not in Your Nature” slows the pace down a little, but remains funky with dreamy synths and soothing vocals. The title track, “New Ships”, is a little more bass-heavy as Sergio sings “So many nooses around my neck, as I stare at the sea waiting for the new ships” repeatedly. It’s also a bit reminiscent of a Daft Punk song.
It’s obvious the duo has kept their overall vibe but have moved into rather deeper content and a more varied sound. They kicked off their fall tour in Canada this past weekend but are headed to New York, San Francisco, L.A., Miami and D.C. so don’t miss out because they always put on a great performance and dance party.
