Fresh Fix: dOP’s Kisses EP on Circus Company

Inspired by their endless touring, the French trio dOP have presented us with an EP that might make you want to “release your thoughts and your tension”.

A love affair between two heavily successful artists of 2012, “Your Feelin’” has dOP’s deep house vibe along with PillowTalk’s doo-wop synth pop. The track is the product of a barbecue and karaoke session held in San Francisco – a follow-up of their first studio meeting in Berlin.

The lyrics in “Kisses” are a poem drowning in dark humor. Jaw, lead singer of the trio, speaks calmly, rationally. It gives off the impression that he’s really in tune with what he’s saying.

“I can say the word love in a pretty voice. I can tell you to open your heart, and ask you if you feel the bass. Basically, we don’t care about this. We just want to drink. Fuck it.”

He mentions drinking a few times, and I recall him downing a bottle of vodka during his performance at Movement Detroit.

In an effort to find out more about their production experience, we sent the dOP guys a little questionnaire about the EP. Not sure they totally got it – language barrier perhaps? Or just little more of their humor seeping in.
