Fresh Fix: Bunte Bummler’s Come Together EP on 8Bit

A year of consistent releases has proved that our Mannheim friends Bunte Bummler can ride with the big boys. Coming to us as their fourth EP release, the German duo have put out Come Together, a 4-track EP as diverse as it is awesome. And it is awesome.

Starting with my favorite on the EP, “Chance To Follow” has got that groove! It’s the perfect combination of hard base and a soft atmospheric vibe. Similar to the past Bummler track “Beady Eyes”, the lower pitched male vocals give the track a taste of hip-hop.

“You Would Be Down For” samples Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down”, which came out in 1994 – a touch of R’n’B. They alter the vocals creating that tranny-like woman’s voice we hear so often in deep house. In that voice, the lyrics are actually pretty funny.

The duo names “Come Together” as their favorite track on the EP, and for good reason. The song tells a story, and uses its melody and percussion to stir emotion. The guitar riffs pull you in involuntarily. The drop at 4:25 says it all.

“Baby Get Lost” is techier than the bunch, hitting us with impactful drops. And the name is quite fitting — it is inevitably a song to get lost in. Just listen to it!
