Almost one year after his debut release on Hot Creations’ sister imprint, Hot Waves, Alexis Raphael comes forward with his Into The Light EP. After several listens, the release proved one thing about the London-based DJ and producer: Raphael’s a badass when it comes to breakdowns.
“Into The Light” comes in with a powerful bassline, and a hushed woman’s voice muttering, “Sophisticated”. The track is deliciously repetitive, bringing in a slew of sounds you might hear in an old-school video game. After dragging out the anticipation, the drop around 3:25 is absolutely killer.
“I Know” is softer and more ambient, yet still keeps the pace of bangin’ dance track. He uses a sample that he says is from decades ago – quite a seductive snippet. The first two minutes and 30 seconds progressively build into another massive breakdown. Bravo, Alexis. We totally dig it.

Concept or theme behind EP: “Into The Light” was made with an East London Warehouse in mind, whilst “I Know” was made for Ibiza Terrace parties.
EP production experience: “Into The Light” was made as an attempt to make an absolute dancefloor peak-time killer after my after-party Jam Spaceship on Hot Waves. Once Jamie Jones had signed “Into The Light”, I was asked to do a B-Side. I literally sat down with the keyboard and “I Know” came to fruition in a day. Jamie and Lee offered to do the remix for me, and naturally I agreed.
