Slowly, but surely, the debate is coming to an end– Miami’s underground is a force to be reckoned with. LINK is starting the new year with a bang in South Beach by bringing in underground specialists, and Watergate residents, Marco Resmann and Sebo K. Watergate you ask? No, we’re not talking politics. We’re talking a staple in the clubbing scene of Berlin. The club, which hosts everything from a Circoloco night to weekly open-airs during the summer to label showcases ranging from Sonat to Desolat to Stil Vor, is now sending two of its anchors to Treehouse via our buddies at LINK.
While some of you may know Marco’s music and sounds from his earlier projects like Pan-Pot or Luna City Express (an act that has become a flagship of Moon Harbour Recordings), his solo act at Watergate (and throughout Berlin and Germany) is definitely special and spreading his demand like wild fire. Earlier this summer during a trip to Berlin I was ignorant to Marco’s sound until I had the chance to listen to him open for an elusive Villalobos and Zip back to back at (where else than) Watergate. Performing as Marco Resmann, he brings an almost hypnotic, trippy twist on minimal techno– a sound that has gained huge popularity in the past five years.
Another Berlin native, Sebo K has gone on a farther reaching musical journey than his party-mate Marco. Originally part of the early UK style drum & bass movement in Berlin, Sebo didn’t dive into house until his introductions to the likes of DJ Sneak, Glenn Underground and Mood II Swing. The sounds coming from early Chicago house and Detroit techno moved Sebo into a long and successful career in house/ techno fusion. Today he is knows for pleasing all sorts of crowds with a twist on classic Chicago and Detroit sounds and modern, cutting edge European tech house, minimal and techno. Together with Marco, the music is sure to bring a unique and fresh sound to one of our favorite underground parties.
Buy tickets to Marco Resmann & Sebo K at Treehouse Friday, Jan. 06.
Marco’s visit to the states coincides with the upcoming 10th installment of the now vastly popular mix series, Watergate. The mix won’t be released until the 20th of February, but below are some tracks that Marco has included in the mix CD.
