Possibly the loudest voice for underground electronic music has finally given us what we have been anxiously waiting for. Resident Advisor has released it’s Top 100 DJs of 2011 and has most of us expected, there was massive movement. 2011 saw the explosion of a new sound. Not very often can a genre make such an impact on it’s scene quite like deep house did this year. In testament to that statement the 2011 Top 100 list saw Jamie Jones jump from 6 to the top spot, and both Maceo Plex and Maya Jane Coles come from not listed at all in 2010 to top 10 in 2011.
The land scape of underground electronic music is shifting and nothing proves it better than Resident Advisor’s poll. Top 10 regulars Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Luciano, Dixon and Ben Klock all took tumbles down the list (all who play towards a more tech-house, techno and minimal geared sound.) However, mybeatFix couldn’t be happier to see the world of dance music opening it’s minds and ears to a new sound and to new artists. We especially love Shonky, Ame, tINI and Solomun’s entrance to the list as well as Art Department’s jump from 88 to 6 and Miami’s own Danny Daze breaking in at 55 (REPRESENT!)
