Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with the utmost pleasure that I announce that after being over-looked for almost two years, Benoit & Sergio FINALLY made their NYC debut this past Saturday! DFA Records and LeBain at The Standard NY joined forces to make this magical night possible, so I bid them my most sincere a-thank-you, as B & S’s live show was undoubtedly the best event I’ve attended at LeBain. Ever.
Benoit & Sergio, the relatively new “it boys” of the underground vocal tech-house world, teamed up in Washington D.C. in 2009 and have seen an uproar of success ever since. Their productions are a refreshing blend of experimental synthpop and tech-house, wrapped up in ethereal and satirical 80s inspired vocals. iTunes jumped on board, naming B & S 2011′s Breakthrough Electronic artist! A well deserved title, considering that this year alone they’ve put out a whirlwind of amazing tracks that quickly became club-go’er favorites; “Walk & Talk” (Visionquest), “Principles/Everbody” (DFA), and “Let Me Count The Ways” (Spectral Sound) are just a few of the bunch, and the boys were sure to play them for all those eager ears at LeBain.
Although Benoit & Sergio only played for an hour, (why must live sets be so short?!) it was a wonderful hour filled with groovy tunes, good energy and a very happy Steph. And seeing as this was their first show in NYC, what better way to close your set than by giving your fans a sneak-peek of some new tracks to be released in 2012? Don’t fret mybeatFixers, we managed to capture some of the goodness for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
Benoit & Sergio’s NEW track! Can anyone say RETRO? We, Love. How ’bout you?
