In a seemingly bout of humorous inspiration the Boston duo Soul Clap and the Polish pair Catz ‘n Dogz have created the super-quartet Clapz II Dogz. In April they released their self titled EP with three tracks that bring together the styles and talents of both groups. The album was released on the burgeoining Glass Table Records.
The opener “The Rain” focuses around soulful, R&B vocals with an ambient backdrop and groovy kicks. “Dogz,” while keeping the ambient vibe, is geared more towards the dance crowd with a stronger bass and string instrument samples strewn about. The album finished with a Soul Clap produced track “Between The Edit.” The chill theme of the EP continues in this indie-dance style edit to one of Jay Z’s track from the 2007 American Gangster album.
