Energy 52 – Cafe Del Mar

Alberto Roman May 21, 2011 0

For 30 years Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza has been flocked to by those coming down from the parties and after parties or by those just looking for a romantic setting to chill and have a drink. The bar has lent it’s name to over 30 compilations of the world famous chill-out, Balearic-ambient style “Cafe Del Mar” album series. And in 1993 trance project, Energy 52 produced a song inspired by Cafe Del Mar. Weather you know it or not this song happens to be considered one of the all time classic electronic songs (taking the number 1 spot on Pete Tong’s Top 20 Tracks of the Last 20 Years.) And while the original mix is a trance song (I know how all you house-heads feel about most trance) it has been “officially” remixed over 100 times and unofficially remixed thousands of times possibly. The melody to the song is based on Belgian composer Wim Merten’s “Struggle For Pleasure.” Open up and take it in, a lot of what we appreciate today wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for what came before.
