In my recent search to dip my pineal gland into some new progressive electronic music, I dove into a wide variety of eletronic sub genres, from new to very old. After being torn a new set of serotonin receptors, what arose from my musical conquest was one of the first manifestaions of electronic music called Italo “Dark” disco .
The genre itself provides a time-traveling glimpse into a new breed of human expression, layered by thick italian accents, demented synthesizers and a galaxy of some the earliest forms of drum machines. Italo disco is ultimately one the founding pillars of dance music.
I’ve been graced to have witnessed a five hour set of italo dark disco by Miami DJ Carlos Llanos . I’ve provided you below with two hard hitting sets that he dropped on preferably the most conscious radio station in miami, WVUM 90.5. Carlos takes you through all the stages of italo disco and brings forth the true colors of electronic music. Let’s not forget about the past but push forward no matter what.
